Wesminster Declaration 2010

I have just signed the Westminster Declaration 2010.

It is summarised in the following three statements:

that protecting human life, protecting marriage, and protecting freedom of conscience are foundational for creating and maintaining strong families, caring communities and a just society.

Christians of all denominations who subscribe to the historic Christian faith to sign the Westminster 2010  Declaration of Christian Conscience.

upon all parliamentary candidates to pledge that they will ‘respect, uphold and protect the right of Christians to hold and express Christian beliefs and act according to Christian conscience’.

This is a timely rising up of the church in the UK as Christians are increasingly facing opposition and limitations to the expression of their faith. Christians are now facing discrimination in all walks of life, including the widely reported cases of discrimination against Christian workers, Shirley Chaplin, Lillian Ladele and Caroline Petrie.

Earlier this year Christian leaders united to challenge the Equalities Bill, which would have made it illegal to insist that their employees including the clergy believed in God and the teachings of the Bible! Compare this attempt to impose ‘equality’ upon the church with the political parties who exempt themselves from such ‘equality’ and are not forced to employ members of opposing parties.

I urge all Christians in the UK to sign up as soon as possible. I ask you to pass this on through your Facebook and Twitter.
