Beastliness in church!

The curate of St Mary’s Church, Ely reported that young people attending services on Sunday evenings were reading novelettes and ‘making eyes at each other’. Three ladies complained their maids were offended by young men whispering beastliness into their ears. Officials should sit at the back of the church and find the offenders, who would be prosecuted.
