A sticker applied to the surface of a road that gives the impression a child is standing in the middle of the street is being used to highlight the danger posed by traffic around schools. It is the latest attempt at slowing traffic near schools.
A Canadian organisation called Preventable, which exists to raise awareness about preventable injuries, launched the pilot project to raise drivers’ awareness during the first week of the new school term.
I don’t know what I would think if I saw this when driving along. I wonder how many drivers almost have a heart attack when the child appears before them. I wonder how many swerve or slam on the brakes.
