Perhaps you have not yet read of the martydom of Christians in Turkey in April. The letter circulating is entitled, “A Letter to the Global Church from the Protestant Church of Smyrna”
This past week has been filled with much sorrow. Many of you have heard by now of our devastating loss here in an event that took place in Malatya, a Turkish province 300 miles northeast of Antioch, the city where believers were first called Christians (Acts 11:26).
I do not need to reproduce it in full here, as it is all over the internet (link here). Some sites omit the paragraph with details of the torture.
One way to ensure Revival in a nation is to martyr the Christians. As Tertullian said long ago,
“We are not a new philosophy but a divine revelation. That’s why you can’t just exterminate us; the more you kill the more we are. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.”
I have been to Turkey and fell in love with the place and the people. I pray for Turkey, that the light and joy of Jesus will flood their land.
