I hope the Partido Popular (Spanish conservatives - who lost the election two days ago - yay!) don't get hold of this idea and propose swearing allegiance to the King. In the towns of Catalonia and the Basque Country, swearing allegiance to the monarch would probably generate the same level of euphoria as among Northern Ireland Catholics! Oh dear.
