I have been asked if I got a reply to my letter to the Meadowhall Centre. See my previous post on how they would not allow the Hallelujah Chorus.
This is what they said to me:
Thank you for taking the time to email on 24th December 2010 regarding the request for a Flashmob performance at Meadowhall.
Meadowhall Shopping Centre does not have a political or religious bias in an endeavour to be equally representative of all of our Customers. As a Shopping Centre we have hosted a range of entertainment activities during the Christmas period, including school orchestras, brass bands, string quartets and local choirs, which had been arranged to perform in advance of the beginning of the season.
Due to a variety of reasons, including the timing of the request, we were not able to accommodate the proposed activity in question on this occasion. However, we are already considering a variety of requests for performers for Christmas 2011 to ensure a festive atmosphere and environment for our shoppers.
They seem to have completely missed my point, though as it was such a cheeky letter I should be grateful they replied at all.
I will be interested to see what happens there for Christmas 2011.
